Senior Back-End Engineers for New Sandvik CODE

We’re looking for two senior back-end engineers to join us at Sandvik CODE, as we strive towards shaping the way industrial companies take on digital transformation. Job Description

Together with a dynamic team of entrepreneurs, designers and engineers, you bring a cloud-based, A.I. powered quotation service to market. This service removes the need for small manufacturers to manually estimate the time and cost associated with producing metal components. By helping these customers free up valuable time to focus on work and adding value instead of pushing paper around, which means your work will have a lasting impact on the world of manufacturing.

Your responsibilities

In this role, you are working in an innovative environment building something new together with your colleagues. As a senior back-end engineer, your responsibilities include:

• Designing and implementing distributed, high-volume micro-services through modular, loosely coupled design principles.
• Implementing data models and storage solutions for high accessibility and scalability.
• Developing and maintaining clearly defined APIs that enable other developers to make use of modules and micro-services through a self-service model.
• Developing and deploying highly scalable cloud computing technologies that enable the services to scale according to customer demand while meeting SLA requirements and cost constraints.
• Optimizing back-end performance for maximum speed, scalability and reliability.
• Mentoring, supporting and pairing programs with junior back-end engineers to help spread best practices of coding throughout the team.

Your skills and qualifications

We expect you to have a BSc or higher in Computer Science, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering or other relevant field. Other qualifications for this role are:

• A deep understanding of modern cloud computing technologies, such as AWS or Azure.
• You have extensive experience of developing loosely coupled, micro-service-driven architectures and associated APIs that enable self-service models to be employed by the various development teams inside Sandvik CODE.
• You have extensive experience of designing data models for massive scaling, including for relational databases and NoSQL databases, such as Apache Cassandra

We also consider it a great advantage if you have experience working with large, distributed file systems and data stores, such as Hadoop HDFS, and experience with real-time streaming brokers, such as Apache Kafka.

Technology

In this role, you are working with:

• Building core A.I. engines using C++, VTK, OpenCASCADE and ArrayFire
• Using MongoDB, with the option to move to DocumentDB or equivalent
• Writing Service APIs using ExpressJS and common middleware
• React, Redux and ThreeJS and common front-end package managers
