Security Engineer

We are currently looking for a Security engineer with a strong background within Network to join our office infrastructure team, a part of Spotify Internal IT. Our team build, maintain and support our offices worldwide from an infrastructure perspective and we look forward to adding more members to our collaboration efforts.

In addition to day to day network engineering you will be responsible for advocating and fostering the security culture in the team.

You will play a leading role in the future of our infrastructure and help us design and implement our network design at all our offices with scalability, efficiency and security in focus.

What you’ll do

Build a strong security culture within the team that allows them to make good security decisions in day to day engineering tasks
Act as a liaison and strong stakeholder to the larger security organization at Spotify.
Balance business asks with security goals in order to empower and enable the larger goals of the organization.
Share responsibility for office infrastructure worldwide including site-to-site as well as client VPN.
Travel nationally and internationally, driving the networking aspect of new office builds and upgrades, including network design, configuration, and installation
Collaborate with other talented engineers to diagnose, resolve, and prevent production issues.
Manage administration of our systems such as log management and monitoring.
Build tools to help other teams do their job more efficiently.
Help grow the team with collaboration, processes and workflows.
Participate in the team’s on-call rotation.

Who you are

You thoroughly understand system and network security.
You have strong work experience in the network engineering field, preferably with a similar, high tech, high energy company.
You have a solid knowledge of TCP/IP.
We are using a mixed tech stack and it's important that you have multi-vendor experience. In addition to Cisco, we need you to have worked with companies such as HP, Fortinet and Opengear.
You love to improve workflow efficiency and explore the latest automation solutions in our industry, if not developing them yourself!
It's a plus if you've worked with monitoring and management solutions for network environments such as LibreNMS, RANCID, Cisco Prime or similar tools.
You have experience managing both wired and wireless networks.
You have a strong understanding of Unix/Linux with an experience of scripting and working in the terminal.
You have experience in developing scripts or sysadmin tools in languages such as Python and are happy to call upon this skill in this role.
You’re creative, curious, eager to learn, and you quickly pick up on new trends and technologies.
You are pragmatic and understand the trade-off between the perfect solution and the working solution.
You are analytical and don’t shy away from problems to which you don’t have an immediate answer. You also seek the information you need and know where or how to find it.
You are a team player with a customer service mentality and actively collaborate with people around you to find solutions to problems.
You naturally want to document your work and spread your knowledge and learnings with others.
