Data Scientist - Customer Features & Testing

Are you a data scientist or statistician with an interest in experiments and testing? We want to expand our knowledge in verification and validation with new developments in data science to perform more efficient testing and analysis.

You will join a team within Features, Verification & Validation which has the responsibility to create and capture knowledge for re-use in all development globally within Group Trucks Technology.

You will be part of a group working with data analytics support to FVV. The analysis work will support our organization with exploratory analysis like data mining and classification problems, confirmatory analysis using a scientific method to analyze and test a hypothesis, design of experiments, and development of on-board analysis in test vehicles.

Our ambition is to expand on our knowledge of our customers and work closely with our engineers to provide them with support and tools to investigate data, plan for future test strategies, and formulate requirements and demands on our products.

You will also be an active voice towards other parts in the Volvo GTT to capture knowledge and to support cooperation within the area of data analytics.

Core Responsibilities
•You will be responsible for all steps of an analytics assignment, from data & business value exploration, data structuring, modeling, problem solving and recommendation
•You will develop & implement methodologies to assist feature leaders and test engineers in setting the right requirements and improving test methods
•You will contribute with technical insight to the strategy & roadmap for the analytics area
•Contribute to process & organizational development in all processes where our analytics tools are used

Competencies
•Analytical and statistical skills: Recognizing patterns in data, information, or events, drawing logical conclusions, and making recommendations of the most suitable models and statistical approaches
•Knowledge in developing statistical models
•Familiarity or proficiency in SQL, databases, matlab, R, Python or other relevant tools
•Familiarity or proficiency in methods or work related to machine learning, design of experiments, data visualization, physical testing, experimental work, analytical/virtual model building, probabilistic modeling or Monte Carlo simulations

Education Details
•Master’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics or equivalent is minimum required
•Doctoral Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics or equivalent is preferred

Experience, Skills, and Training Details

•You have the ability to effectively translate business problems into technical solutions, and communicate effectively with customers, engineering colleagues as well as senior management
