Junior Industrial Designer to FLIR Systems

OM TJÄNSTEN
Academic Work is on behalf of our client FLIR Systems looking for a Junior Industrial Designer. The role aims to expand the young, small, yet growing, design team that consists of industrial design, interaction design and user research. You will be a part of the R&D-department and work in the same building as both production and development. Moreover, your contact surfaces will be with customers and colleagues all around the world and there will be a couple of longer trips each year.

This is a consultant assignment. You will be employed by Academic Work and work as a consultant at FLIR Systems. The assignment will be full time and until further notice.

ARBETSUPPGIFTER
As an industrial designer, you will work in-house with the product design of FLIR System’s market-leading thermal and sensing technologies. You will contribute to the design process from early idea to final design in different kinds of projects, although your focus will be on the conceptualization phase where your passion for visualizations inspires and moves the project forward.

For example, you will:

* Produce awesome visualizations – quick and dirty and sometimes to its perfection
* Work with 3D software (surface modeling and/or solid modeling)
* Transform user insights to meaningful product experiences!
* Be a part of our product evolution and future vision
* Work in close collaboration with the design team
* Create graphical- and presentation material
* Work both analogue and digital

The position suits you who are able to work independently and you adapt easily to new ideas in a flexible way. At FLIR Systems, you have a lot of time to be creative and this is the place to be if you want to work with the complete product experience.

VI SÖKER DIG SOM
* MA/MFA degree (or equivalent) in Industrial Design

* Can show previous and relevant work by attaching a portfolio to your application (see instructions below), this is a mandatory step to be considered in the selection process
* Proficiency in 2D software (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), 3D software (Rhino 3D) and visualization software as Keyshot (or equivalent)
* A thorough understanding of design and a passion to visualize ideas and designs both analogue and digitally
* Fluency in English

It will be considered an additional qualification if you have a couple of years’ experience and knowledge in Solidworks.

As a person, you are able to work independently and you adapt easily to new ideas in a flexible way. It is important that you can come up with different concepts and designs, but you also have the ability to question your own work and value the input of others. You have a passion of being creative and don´t lose motivation when the concept you have been working on ends up being incorrect. Moreover, it is important that you have the ability to problem-solve quickly and efficiently.
