Media Technologies Research Area
Media Technologies is a research area at Ericsson Research with the mission to ensure that Ericsson products have world leading performance for media distribution and media applications. We also drive the digitalization of Ericsson and the Industry by developing enablers for AR/VR. In this capacity, we develop algorithms for media compression and object recognition, we also have a glass-to-glass competence from capture over processing and transport to rendering.

Job Description

As a researcher in our team you will work with the team behind successful speech and audio compression standards such as AMR, AMR-WB, and EVS that are implemented in virtually all mobile phones. You will invent, test and implement algorithms in future speech and audio codecs for communication and media distribution covering features like multi-channel and surround sound. You will be involved in international standardization such as 3GPP, ITU-T, MPEG. You will contribute to the development of emerging technologies such as AR/VR, enhance existing and future Ericsson products and businesses. You may also work on commercializing research from universities around the globe. Solutions and algorithms are described by their implementation, technical reports, technical specifications, standard contributions, academic papers, and patent applications.

You, as the successful candidate for the role:

• Will be working in an international team of world class researchers including some of the key authorities and thought leaders world-wide on media compression.

Your qualifications:

• Master’s or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Computer Science, or similar technical field; newly graduated or with work experience

Your abilities:

• You have strong analytical skills, eagerness to find innovative solutions to complex problems.

• Specific interest in signal and audio processing

• You have solid programming skills and command of, e.g., C, Python, Matlab.

• You like to try new ideas, understand the theory behind them and have the drive to make them work in practice.

• You can take initiatives.

• You like to work in an environment where you cooperate closely in a diverse team of colleagues, together striving to fulfil common targets.

• You can communicate with people and find it easy to explain your findings and knowledge to others.
