Job Description

Together with a dynamic team of entrepreneurs, designers and engineers, you help develop a range of digital services to solve unmet customer needs across the manufacturing value-chain. You work in close collaboration with our data science organization with the mission to turn proof-of-concepts and ideas to production-ready features for consumption by CODE’s broader digital service portfolio.

Your responsibilities

In this role, you are working in an innovative environment building something new together with your colleagues. As a data engineer, your responsibilities include:

• Designing and implementing distributed, high-volume micro-services through modular, loosely coupled design principles
• Implementing data models and storage solutions for high accessibility and scalability
• Developing and maintaining clearly defined APIs that enable other developers to consume our micro-services through a self-service model
• Developing and deploying highly scalable cloud computing technologies that enable our services to scale in compliance with customer demand, while meeting SLA requirements and cost constraints
• Optimizing back-end performance for maximum speed, scalability and reliability

Your skills and qualifications

You have a BSc or higher in Computer Science, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering or equivalent field, and as our team at Sandvik CODE is truly international, we expect you to have excellent communication skills in English. Other prerequisite qualifications for this role are:

• Extensive knowledge of Linux operation systems as runtime environments
• A deep understanding of data structures, algorithms and modern cloud computing system design, using modern technologies such as AWS, Azure or GCP
• Extensive experience of developing loosely coupled micro-service-driven architectures and associated APIs that enable self-service models to be employed by the various development teams inside Sandvik CODE
• Extensive experience from designing data models for massive scaling, including relational databases and NoSQL databases, such as Apache Cassandra or equivalent

Other preferred qualifications for this role are:

• Experience working with large, distributed file systems and data stores, such as Hadoop HDFS or equivalent
• Knowledge of real-time streaming brokers, such as Apache Kafka or equivalent
