Build the future of Nordic banking - Go Backend Engineer

Betalo started with the idea that modern technology, lower overhead costs, and fair values could enable cheaper, simpler, and more transparent banking services for our customers. We are taking those beliefs and building the future of banking in the Nordics.

As part of our backend team, you will use Go to build our new services that form the core of our new banking products.

What You Will Do

• Build services to handle customer data, connect to payments systems, process financial transactions in real time, and talk to iOS and Android apps.
• Create new services--inspired by micro-service design patterns--in Go and other languages, and host them on Heroku and AWS.
• Use the best-in-class databases and data stores like Postgres.
• Quickly iterate APIs with our mobile developers to provide the data and services our iOS and Android apps need to solve our customers’ problems.

One Day as a Developer at Betalo

• If it's Monday, you'll start the week with a company-provided buffet breakfast, and listen as a colleague gives a short presentation on what she's currently working on.
• At around 9:30, you'll join the rest of the backend team at the daily standup where we walk the kanban board's stories.
• As you start the day's work, you might pair up with another developer to break down a story into subtasks or to pair program on the solution.
• If you have a question about the story, you'll grab the product owner or another developer and figure out what to do.
• After you get back from lunch, we have "no meeting afternoons", so you can get in the zone and focus on the story you are currently working on.
• Around 15:00, you might to join some colleagues in a "fika", a short coffee break with a baked good like a cinnamon bun.

Qualifications

• At least one of the following:
• Computer Science degree
• One year of professional software engineering experience
• Have some programming projects you are proud of and willing to show us.
• You are willing and able to live and work in Stockholm, Sweden

We work in an agile and collaborative environment, and because we are still small, everyone contributes their expertise to build our software. Like all of our developers, you will report directly to the CTO.
