Hosting Engineer

About the Position
We have a flexible dynamic team of great programmers, who handles everything from hosting, backend and frontend development (both web and native Android). We are SCRUM fanatics (sprint 174 now!) and love creating disruptive software innovations with a team effort!
The cloud software platform is today hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) and can handle 200+ million users. We want to also offer it as an on-premises service, meaning that we need to migrate the software platform to a new hosting environment and develop some of AWS’s services for scaling. The team that handles this, needs reinforcement and this is where you start your journey at Appland!

Yes, but what will I do more in detail?
We are breaking new ground in this project and you will get the opportunity to have a great impact!
Below are some tasks you might be involved in:
• Implement new container orchestration (Kubernetes).
• Setup hosting and implement scaling solutions for current SQL and non-relational databases.
• Update backend services written in PHP or Node.JS/Javascript to handle new use cases.
• Develop new HTML5 web store.
• Bring in new open source services as needed to replace services provided by AWS.
• Implement big data analyzation.
• Integrate services to customer platforms.

We need several persons, but you can work with hosting if you have:
• Experience in large scale hosting and database scaling
• Worked with AWS and/or local private cloud
• Kubernetes, Docker, CDN, Sharding & Clustering databases
• Roll up the sleeves/get it done attitude

Appland AB provides “Netflix for Mobile Games”. The consumer gets free access to the best Android mobile games in the world (Disney, Electronic Arts, etc.). We have removed all ads and in-app purchases, and instead the consumer pays a monthly fee. The service is delivered to 60 mobile operators and handset manufacturers worldwide.
