Our comprehensive and market leading solutions involve uploading, storing and analyzing data from a clear majority of the diabetes devices currently available on the global market – allowing patients and caregivers to easily access, understand and share the same information. This equals highly valuable support for people with diabetes both during and in-between doctor visits, and makes the work of diabetes coaches around the world much more efficient and accurate.

Over the last few years we have grown quickly and are now at the point of the next big phase of expansion, aiming at establishing a presence with new exciting products in several markets within the near future. And to get there, the search for a number of new talented and driven co-workers has now begun.

We are a global company with 100+ employees, located in Silicon Valley, Chicago, London and Gothenburg – currently serving 7000 diabetes clinics in 23 countries across 15 languages, impacting the lives of tens of millions of people with diabetes on a daily basis. Our largest owners are Samsung Ventures, Medtronic, Canaan Partners and Social Capital.

In our brand new office close to Liseberg (yes - you will have Lisebergskortet as an employee benefit) in Gothenburg we are approximately 35 co-workers. We are responsible for sales, customer support and marketing for all international markets except North America. We also have a dedicated team of engineers that works with technical development for all global markets.

ROLE DESCRIPTION

As a Lead Developer and Architect, Server and Web Technologies you will be part of the Product Development team designing, developing and running our entire service platform, used by web, mobile and other internal as well as external systems.

Your main tasks will be to oversee ongoing server/web application implementation projects, divide them down to the team, as well as to implement some functions yourself and get your hands dirty with server operations. You will be part of a global architecture team in which you’ll collaborate with our colleagues in California.

The technology span at Glooko is very wide - we work with everything from embedded Linux systems to databases and applications for web, desktop and mobile. You will have lots of opportunities to choose what to work with!

The Product Development department is a complete team that consists of Product Managers, UX/UI designers, and embedded as well as server side developers as well as testers.

EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCE REQUIREMENTS

We believe that the person that we are looking for has:

• Preferably five years of experience in a similar, senior role
• Experience in doing scalable web application system architecture
• A Master of Science in Computer Science or similar
• Good communication skills
• Project management skills and experience leading groups of people to move together toward a common target
• A drive to evaluate and use new frameworks, methods and tools
• Experience with:

• Amazon Web Services & Cloud Computing Technologies
• Languages such as Python, SQL, Ruby, or PHP
• Linux server environments
• Designing & working with relational database models in environments such as MySQL and MongoDB
• Issue trackers such as Jira
• Version control systems such as Git & Subversion

It would be preferred if you also have DevOps knowledge.
