What´s in it for you

The Machine Learning & Artificial Intelligence Center of Excellence is responsible for setting up and driving the integration of Volvo Cars’ overall machine learning strategy. The department also handle competence growth and collaborations within the field of machine learning. Our team is cross-functional, consisting of Data Scientists, Machine Learning Engineers and Software Engineers developing product applications and services with direct or indirect connection to our cars.

We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer to complement our team by providing data-driven solutions and prepare infrastructures for data analytics in a dynamic and agile environment.

 

What you`ll will do

As a Data Engineer, you will integrate, prepare and ingest data from various sources and perform data quality and integrity analysis. You understand distributed computing and work together with Data Scientists and other members of the team to help split algorithms effectively to still yield predictive accuracy across a variety of domains. You will run maintenance processes and resolve problems appropriately in order to build and run large scale, efficient and reliable data pipelines. You are responsible for securing the data and for building pipelines that move that data seamlessly between our group and the rest of the organization.

You and your skills
* MSc/PhD in statistics, engineering, machine learning, data mining, computer science, applied mathematics or other relevant field. Or proven experience achieved by other means
* Good knowledge of data modelling, ETL pipelines and general database concepts
* Experienced in building, maintaining and scaling data infrastructures
* Strong programming skills in two of the following: Python, C++, Java
* Two or more technologies from the following: Spark, Dask, Flink, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Hive, HBase, Hadoop and experience with cloud environments and distributed computing
* Understand the pros and cons of using relational and noSQL databases

Meritorious
* Experience with Machine Learning tools and algorithms, in particular Spark MLlib and Scala programming and building and designing large scale end-to-end applications and designing pipelines for both batch and streaming use cases.
* Experience pushing "lab" specifics (training and validation) into real-time engines and parallelizing algorithms to still yield predictive accuracy across a variety of domains and experience with "data lake" designs that assist in large scale analysis but still serve domain-specific applications.
