The Software Engineer is responsible for implementing high quality software components in accordance with project requirements and overall system architecture following AVEVA's business and technology strategy. You work as part of the EDM Connect Services team to research, design, implement and support the AVEVA EDM Software as a Service (SaaS) platform using Amazon Web Services (AWS).

About the job

Position

You are part of a team that design and develop highly available and scalable SaaS platform features supporting our Dabacon products in accordance with project requirements and overall system architecture following AVEVA's business and technology strategy. You contribute towards innovative design against challenging user and performance requirements, and maintain and grow your knowledge in an environment of rapidly changing technology.

The work is performed closely with other members of the development team. You are part of a Wider Platform Development group and collaborative development centres in international locations. You have good working relationship with members of the Test and User Documentation teams.

In addition, you

Demonstrate and promote secure practices
Provide prototypes where appropriate to explore and verify design proposals
Implement approved designs and ensure adherence to product quality and acceptance criteria
Manage DevOps aspects throughout the development lifecycle (e.g. ensure all code is fully unit tested, documented and automatically deployable)
Collaborate with team members on work breakdown and estimates within the agile framework
Identify and communicate technical issues and risks in a timely manner
Undertake the administration and resolution of support and maintenance issues
Report progress to the Development Manager/Scrum Master

Requirements

Degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering or numerate subject
At least two years' experience of developing professional software applications
Knowledge and experience of SaaS development, preferably using Amazon Web Services
Ability to develop in multiple languages, e.g. JavaScript (Angular, Node.js) and C#
Knowledge and experience of a serverless environment
Team worker with proactive approach
A strong desire to own and solve challenges and to learn new technologies
Good verbal and written communication skills
Ability to collaborate, influence and build relationships

Beneficial:

Skilled in use of Visual Studio development environment
Knowledge of Windows development
Knowledge of complete software development lifecycle, preferably agile development methodology (e.g. Scrum)
Knowledge of C++
User Interface and User Experience design skills

The role will be based at our Malmö office in Sweden, though occasional overseas travel may be required as the need arises.
