The Institut Laue-Langevin (ILL), situated in Grenoble, France, is Europe's leading research facility for fundamental research using neutrons. The ILL operates the brightest neutron source in the world and hosts over 2000 visits by scientists per year, who come to carry out world-class research in a wide variety of scientific fields. Funded primarily by its three founder members: France, Germany and the United Kingdom, the ILL has also signed scientific collaboration agreements with 10 other countries.

Software Engineer - 3D Graphics and Augmented Reality (M/F)

Duties:
You will be part of the team of engineers responsible for the development of the NOMAD instrument control system in use at the ILL. As a team member you will be responsible for the development and the implementation of new software features related to instrument 3D Graphics and augmented reality. Those tools will, on one hand, allow the user to have a virtual representation of the instrument including all movements in real time and, on the other hand, increase the user experience at the instruments and experimental areas thanks to the augmented reality.
A connection with data reduction and simulation software will also be explored.

Qualifications and experience:
- You are a chartered Engineer or hold a Master's degree in Information Technologies.
- You have a solid experience in object oriented programming with specific skills in C++, Java and
JavaScript applications.
- You have a good knowledge in 3D graphics and augmented reality as well as in image treatment and
machine learning.
- You are used to writing software for industrial applications, sound knowledge of machine learning and a proven "hands on" attitude will be a bonus.
- Knowledge of mobile devices programming (Android, iOS) is a plus.

Language skills:
As an international research centre, we are particularly keen to ensure that we also attract applicants from outside France. You must have a sound knowledge of English and be willing to learn French (a language course will be paid for by the ILL). Knowledge of German would be an advantage.

Notes:
This a "specified-purpose" fixed-term contract for 36 months.
Medical fitness for work under ionising radiation is required.
