Skillbreak is a social learning platform where we make it easy for people to offer find and book unique local experiences. We match local creative professionals with anyone with curiosity to learn a new craft or skill.

From crafting a fine drop coffee or painting on canvas to fermenting greens, every city has 1000s of interesting professionals with creative skills to offer. We believe offline-skills is the new status symbol, critical in an ever more digital world. We aspire to create a movement around real meetings and knowledge transfer human-to-human.

Right now we operate in Stockholm, but we strive to make it possible to learn anything imaginable, anywhere in the world.

What have we accomplished till now?

Launched the Skillbreak market place with more than 500 paying users and over 100 experts.

Built an MVP, making it easy for professionals to upload their profile and publish new courses and for users to book and review their experiences.

Right now re-designing the service for SEO purposes and an enhanced discovery experience with categories and filtering features.

We are currently working towards scaling and growing our platform. We have built our MVP in Rails 5.1 (backend) with Rails, React and CSS on the front-end and Postgre SQL database.

Up until now we’ve employed a talented back-end freelancer and our own front end dev Lina (one of the founders).

What’s our challenge now?

We have a solid basic platform (MVP) converting 4% of our visitors to bookings. Taking the next step in our growth journey we need to iterate on the best ways increasing the conversion rate and attracting new users. How about we improve our UX? OR bring some social add-ons to empower community engagement? OR should we discuss some kind of gamification with postive triggers? These are some of the questions, we'd love to have you in our table to discuss. We also believe that we need to build an intelligent engine for recommendations and automate more of the marketing.

We’re a passionate and fast-paced team with ambitious goals for this year. By the end of 2018, our goal is to reach 3200 bookings and in 2020 we aim to have 100 000 bookings.
