In the transforming transport industry there are many opportunities for new solutions and business. Scania is now looking for a software developer with a genuine interest in understanding the customer’s business and the new set of problems they are facing. As a member of our prototyping team you will work in close collaboration with business managers, UX designers and selected customers, exploring new business opportunities for both Scania and our customers.

Job description
Our team is responsible to develop prototypes or small applications that we use for evaluating new business opportunities. Our mission is to validate if the proposed service solves a real problem and if the customer is willing to pay for having the problem solved. So far, we have often decided to “do things that do not scale”; e.g. use a faked backend or remove the user interface completely. We do not scale our application until we have validated the value proposition for the user and Scania. The service or business model that we test, is typically driven by data from connected vehicles.

We are today three senior Software Developers in the team. We work in close collaboration with business development and UX designers. The team decides how to work and which technologies that best support us in building the software. For the current project, we use .NET Core, Angular and AWS.

About You
We believe that you have a holistic view on the development cycle and therefore do not want to focus solely on a specific part of the problem. We also believe that you are a problem solver driven by customer needs rather than a specific technical stack. To us, this means that you like coding but also enjoy the search for customer value.

Your Profile
We want you to have good understanding of programming principles and appreciation of the purpose and the practices of Agile. We also want you to be curious about the user and to have the ability to learn new technology domains. You are fluent in English at professional business level. We also value if you have a multidisciplinary interest beyond software development, e.g. service design, UX, or transport business.

We believe that in addition to hiring the best talent, a diversity of perspectives, ideas and cultures lead to the creation of a better work environment and services.

Our offer
As a Scania employee you are offered, in addition to personal and professional development opportunities, benefits; option to sign an agreement for an employee car, profit sharing bonus, occupational pension, flexible working hours, lunch at reduced prices and much more. If you live in Stockholm, we offer a direct bus service between Stockholm and Södertälje, the Scania Job Express.
