Client Developer

About the position

As lead client developer at DigiExam you will help design and implement the DigiExam client applications. We currently have clients for Windows, Mac OS X and ChromeOS, and we plan to expand to other platforms in the future.

You will learn and use whichever technologies are required to support the current clients and any future platforms we begin to support, so it’s important that you have a broad understanding of languages and platforms and a general mindset of solving problems rather than working with specific technologies.

We are a small company with big ambitions that focuses on high quality solutions for specific problems. Our product has a narrow focus so you will be encouraged to solve problems well instead of solving many problems as fast as you can. We provide the quality and our customers provide the quantity.

Since it’s a lead role in a small company you will have a lot of responsibility over the implementation choices and development processes. We use automated testing and continuous integration for much of our code, and we aim to streamline our development and deployment processes as much as we can.

As a company we work asynchronously with each other to avoid meetings and give room for long periods of deep focus. Documentation is available on both the technology and business levels so you should never have to get stuck due to lack of information.

Open Source is something we care deeply about both in the technology we use and we try to give back to the community. You can see what we have released so far on our GitHub page.

Skills and requirements

• You have incredible coding skills. Your programming ability is way above average, as demonstrated by a continuous string of successful projects.
• You are fluent in English.
• You are located nearby Stockholm.
• You have created significant cross platform or native applications (Windows, Mac OS X, iOS, Android, Chromebook, Node Addons).
• You are very comfortable tackling problems in new environments and languages.
• Experience in JS is required.
• Experience with any or all of C/C++, golang, C# and Objective-C is a bonus (and yes, we use a lot of languages).
• Optimal candidates will have experience in working tightly with operating system API:s such as Cocoa API and WinAPI.

About the company

DigiExam started in October 2011 with the purpose of making digital examinations available for everyone. Currently about 50 schools are using DigiExam daily.

We want to remove the tedious parts of handwritten exams for the students and bring examinations into the 21st century, allowing the students to express themselves with tools they are used to and work with daily. We also want teachers to stop spending tons of time grading handwritten and unreadable exams and instead spending that time on more important things, such as meeting and inspiring students, in other words bringing teachers back to the classroom.

The first step is to remove pen and paper from the process, then a new world of opportunities opens up when a school fully enters the digital era.
