Sr. Software Engineering Manager (Commerce Services)

This role is within our Consumer Commercial Digital Products (CCDP) team, which is using digital technologies to reinvent the experience of becoming a Volvo customer. There’s no reason the experience of buying a car should be painful and difficult – it should be as enjoyable and exciting as actually having a new car. That is our mission. This is a rapidly growing team, and we are looking for outstanding people who will be some of the earliest hires in their function, helping to establish it at Volvo Cars. 

Who you are:

You share our passion for cars and developments in the auto industry. If you have Full-stack development experience it is a big plus. Understanding of CMS systems, such as Drupal and SiteCore and also understanding of Microsoft .NET and Azure technologies is very beneficial in this role.

You would have extensive knowledge of backend development, including data models, backend services, complex business logic. You're experienced with Service Oriented Architecture and web services, creating and using REST APIs. You would also have proficient experience with 2+ programming languages such as C#, Java, Python, Ruby and/or Scala. If you have experience with enterprise systems such as Quote, Pricing, Order Management it would be highly desired. You should have experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and associated tools. You should carry a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related STEM field, however a Master’s degree would be ideal. As a manager, you would likely have approximately 10 years’ of relevant work experience, with at least 5 years as a hands-on Software Manager.

How you will contribute:

You will be utilized for developing the commerce services modules (such as Pricing, Order, Financing) for consumer facing products and e-commerce solutions across more than 80 countries. Your responsibilities will include rapid development of prototypes/concepts, and regular product development.

You will also be contributing your management experience for recruiting, hiring, leading, and managing a team of software engineers and quality engineers to design and build consumer applications that reach Volvo’s customers.  You are a hands-on manager with experience developing complex enterprise backend software while you are hiring and building the team. You will lead and drive change to team and development process in an enterprise environment
