Software Architect - Commerce Services

This role is within our Consumer Commercial Digital Products (CCDP) team, which is using digital technologies to reinvent the experience of becoming a Volvo customer. There’s no reason the experience of buying a car should be painful and difficult – it should be as enjoyable and exciting as actually having a new car. That is our mission. This is a rapidly growing team, and we are looking for outstanding people who will be some of the earliest hires in their function, helping to establish it at Volvo Cars. 

Who you are:

You are a very experienced Software Architect to drive our journey from highly outsourced project solutions to in-house product development. We are also widening our scope in terms of technologies from .NET/C# only to a mixed technology setup with both .NET and Open Source Technologies such as Java/Python and AWS cloud. The work is situated in our new offices close to Gothenburg City in Gamlestaden but with close collaboration with our offices in Mountain View, California and Shanghai, China.

You have a Passion for software engineering and craftsman-like coding prowess. You will be designing innovative, evolutionary architectures while building, supporting and mentoring effective delivery teams.

You would have the experience leading development on large, custom-built object-oriented applications. You will have great object oriented skills, including strong design patterns knowledge and enterprise integration. You would lend your experience working with agile, lean and/or continuous delivery approaches and practices, such as continuous integration, TDD, BDD, Infrastructure as Code etc..You would thrive in a team-oriented, collaborative environment. You will have experience in communicating technical vision at a high and low level and the ability to influence on a commercial and technical level. You're focused on championing software quality, cross-functional requirements and engendering technical vision. You're an expert, hands-on coding support for your team, with knowledge and experience of software best practices, like Test-Driven Development (TDD), Continuous Integration (CI), Continuous Delivery (CD). You're hands-on experience will also be utilized by working closely with Product Owner to realize product vision. Experience designing innovative, evolutionary architectures

How you will contribute:

You would contribute your experience with architectural design whilst leading and inspiring software development and infrastructure teams. Leading by example. You will have the ability to ensure appropriate technology choices by understanding the business vision. You will design and build applications for web platform Hands-on development and delivery experience with a broad mix of languages and technologies including C#.

You would collaborate with other architects to set best development practices across the areas in Consumer Commercial Digital Products. You will lead research on the technology standards, evaluate and recommend commerce platform from vendors as well as lead and oversee the design of critical ecommerce backend modules. You would also collaborate with Product Manager to translate complex business requirements into actionable technical items.
