Platooning Cloud Developer

Scania is now undergoing a transformation from being a supplier of trucks, buses and engines to a supplier of complete and sustainable transport solutions.

Intelligent Transport Systems is a newly created section within the Connected and Autonomous Systems department at Scania R&D. Our mission is to provide connected and autonomous transport solutions. The Intelligent Transport Systems section will contribute to that mission by providing offboard systems for automated, optimized and safe vehicle control and monitoring.

Assignment

You will be a part of starting up a new development area at Scania - Platooning Cloud. The Platooning Cloud is the IT Backend supporting vehicles in a truck platoon. This includes for example security solutions for vehicle and platoon identification, platooning planning and formation, platoon monitoring and follow-up. You will start being part of a small team, developing the concept for the Platooning Cloud, and then grow development team as we define clear development tasks. The work will be done internally at Scania, but also in harmonization project together with other European Truck OEM-s (ENSAMBLE). The initial work focus much on understanding how the different steps in the platooning process will be performed, and define the system solution that can support it. Later stages will be more focused on actual system development and building a development team.

We work in an agile and fully team-oriented way, with autonomous and product-oriented teams. Teams are responsible for the entire product development, including strategy and roadmap, architecture, development, testing and operations. In this team we do some of the in-vehicle embedded software ourselves, just to work more efficiently. The team work with both research as well as product development, but with a clear mission to deliver products to our customers.

Your profile

We are looking for people who combine software-development skills with an engineering attitude of innovation and product development. You are a team player and understand the principles behind exceptional team work. You are self-motivated and driven, and can take on a complex product development challenge in a systematic and structured way. You dare to try in order to learn.

You should have competence in, or a strong will to learn:

• Cloud development in Amazon WS
• C# .NET, backend or fullstack developer
• Agile development methodologies, like CI/CD, TDD, SCRUM and other standard modern development methods.
• Strong thinking in software modularisation and code quality
• Experience from Scania Cloud Platform and Connetivity development is meritous.

You have a BSc/Msc in Engineering, or similar experience.
