Web Scraping Lead

ICSS is looking for a software engineer to join our Operations team to work on web crawler development, data management and the overall technical management of the web scraping department for our flagship project: alaTest.

Are you interested in designing, building, and maintaining web crawlers built on the python Scrapy framework which alaTest uses to crawl millions of product pages a year?

ICSS was founded in 2005 as the pioneer of the Product Reviews aggregation and analysis sector. We collect, structure, match, analyse, present and syndicate product and review data, globally.

Job Responsibilities:
• Manage a team of internal and external scraping developers
• Plan, review, manage and deploy crawler code from our other developers
• Design, develop and maintain Scrapy web crawlers
• Leverage other technologies and systems from our platform to perform distributed information extraction, retrieval and data processing
• Identify and resolve performance and scalability opportunities

Requirements:
• Good communication in spoken and written English
• 2+ years of software development and/or web scraping management experience
• Solid Python knowledge (including older versions)
• Familiarity with Linux/UNIX, HTTP, HTML, Javascript and some networking
• Ability to work with production legacy code (bugfix, extend, optimize etc..)
• Basic MySQL operations and data manipulation skills
• Availability to work full time in our Stockholm HQ

Bonus points for:
• Solid Scrapy framework knowledge
• Familiarity with techniques and tools for crawling, extracting and processing data
• Intermediate to advanced MySQL skills
• Remote team management experience
