Background

Videoplaza, an Ooyala company, empowers broadcasters and video publishers to build profitable and sustainable businesses in the internet-delivered TV world.

Videoplaza’s video ad serving platform, Karbon, monetises video experiences across PCs, mobile devices, tablets, game consoles, IPTV, Smart TV and HBBTV. We help publishers and broadcasters manage, sell, optimise yield and deliver video advertising across all these environments. We are growing rapidly and have clients in more than 25 markets worldwide as well as offices across Europe, Asia and the US. Our Stockholm office is the hub for all R&D and has an international feel with colleagues from 16+ countries.

We are now looking for an experienced engineer to join our team and help us shape the New TV world

The role

We feel that tooling and workflows are deeply intertwined and strongly believe a tooling team should have responsibilities in developing the processes and workflows that the tools enable.

We have created a Tools and Workflows Team that works alongside all engineering teams in the business delivering products and services to them as internal customers. This entails a short and honest feedback loop that is both challenging and gratifying.

As a member of this team, your work will enable a strong DevOps culture where the dev teams own their services throughout the whole development lifecycle. The tools the team oversee cover all parts of the software development process, from local development and QA/integration testing to production releases and finally maintenance and monitoring of the services in production.

Responsibilities

  • Working with and understand the workflows of all dev teams
  • Requirements discovery and knowledge sharing with dev teams
  • Prototyping and development of new tooling/infrastructure projects
  • Monitoring and maintenance of tools and infrastructure
  • Challenging existing workflows and processes and providing input for improvements

Who we’re looking for

You are an excellent communicator and relationship builder who thrives in being on top of what is happening in all teams. You have a passion for building software sharply focused on the needs of your users, the developers. To accomplish this, you maintain a deep understanding for our software development lifecycle. You love to go over, document and polish your software and present and sell it to the devs in an iterative process of transparent development and user feedback. In true DevOps fashion, you are eager to share knowledge and strive to work cross-functionally.

On the technical side, you enjoy creating web-based interfaces like dashboards, as well as setting up, integrating and maintaining tools infrastructure. You solve complex problems in a simple manner and discover existing technologies that fit use cases well. We think that you are excited to work with aspects such as: virtualisation for personal and shared test environments, Continuous Integration/Delivery pipelines, infrastructure automation and configuration management, monitoring and alerting.

Required skills and experience

  • Passion for communication and collaboration
  • DevOps mindset with a focus on automation and service infrastructure management
  • Focus on delivering a high quality, polished product/service
  • Experienced developer: Java, Python
  • A knack for writing documentation
  • Experience with Web development
  • Good knowledge of system engineering in a Linux environment
  • Experience of automation tools like Ansible, Salt, Jenkins
