Test system for autonomous car

This project is carried out at ÅF with a supervisor from ÅF and in collaboration with KTH Formula Student. The project aims to support two types of cars, ÅF has a small 1:12 scaled autonomous car for rapid prototyping of functionality and KTH formula student are designing an autonomous, self-driving electric formula car to participate in the largest engineering student competition in the world, Formula Student. http://www.kthformulastudent.se/
Description
Today's vehicles are equipped with hundreds of sensors and controllers to sense what is happening in their surroundings and to act accordingly. For race cars it is extremely important to effectively provide information from all these sensors to perform testing of the car. For an autonomous car this is even more important. The assignment is to develop a system that provides a dashboard to supervise and monitor this vehicle from a laptop besides the car. The dashboard needs to include lidar image, camera image, mapping, cars perception of object recognition, position in the real world and proposed route planning to support to autonomous functionality. As a research task our proposal is to investigate how this dashboard system also can provide some decision support to the user perhaps based on AI algorithms.

Who are you?
The thesis is at master's level, scheduled to be started by Q1-2019, suitable for two persons and will be performed mainly at ÅF's office in Solna. We do also accept single candidates and can provide candidate matching.
This degree project will require good software knowledge and skills in programming. We believe you have knowledge in:

C++ for interfacing the car
Python to write scripts for the dashboard
GUI Design would be nice

You can speak Swedish or are willing to learn Swedish.
