Linux Software Engineer to work with milking robots

DeLaval is looking for a Linux Software engineer to the Robot & Vision Team – RRF 2015089

DeLavals automatic milking system VMS has been around for quite a few years now. In this system the cows enter on a voluntary basis, and fully automatic robots do all the milking. We are now developing the next generation of automatic milking with 3D vision guided robots.

We are now looking for an experienced embedded software engineer with Linux profile to join our Robot & Vision Team. This team is responsible for vision systems and robot control on our range of automatic milking products. We design the software that via 3D cameras guide the robot actions. Our tasks demand that we work both in-house and occasionally on test farms, in Sweden and abroad.  

Key responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain the software that constitutes the infrastructure of our vision systems
• Set up, maintain and run a cross-compiling software tool chain
• Develop and support tools for computer vision development work and data analysis
• Maintain and manage installation of an embedded Linux distribution

Take active part in the development of our entire automatic milking systems from a vision system requirements perspective

The position will be located in Tumba, Stockholm, and reports to Björn Wiklander, Technical Manager Robot & Vision. The job occasionally requires some travel to test farms, in Sweden and abroad.

Your qualifications:

• MSc / BSc with software development focus or equivalent experience
• +2 years professional experience of Linux development for embedded systems
• Team player – we work in tight teams, and this position requires the ability to support other software engineers
• The candidate should have a structured approach to software development in general and an eye for good software architecture
• Requires good knowledge of:
• C/C++
• Shell Script
• GNU Toolchain
• Socket programming
• Experience of the following will be considered a plus:
• Jenkins
• Qt
• Buildroot, Yocto or equivalent

The successful candidate should also:

• Be goal oriented and have a structured way of approaching challenges
• Take initiatives and be accustomed to work in groups as well as independently
• Be fluent in English, writing as well as speaking
• Have a driving license
