Field Application Engineer – Embedded Software Specialist

We are looking for a Field Application Engineer to Atlas Copco Industrial Technique.

My name is Mats Andersson and I am leading the technical product support team within the global marketing department. In our team we are a mix between both junior and senior people, with a wide range of both experiences and knowledge.

About the job
You want to work with development of world class embedded products and at the same time take part in all the action where the products are used. We are looking for a software developer for our largest new product, the Power Focus 6000. The Power Focus 6000 is an advanced controller unit which is controlling electrical tightening tools which are being used by our customers in their assembly lines worldwide within the automotive and in the general industry. As a Field Application Engineer you will be a member of a high performing team which is managing various type of job tasks coming in from different stake holders of our organization such as marketing, sales, operations as well as the R&D department with the purpose to deliver excellent customer value.

This is the perfect opportunity if you are a developer in core but want to travel the world and interact with the end customers on a regular basis. You will many times be the main contact point directly between the customer stake holders and software development at the Atlas Copco headquarters.

In this position you will learn both technical skills as well as identify the key needs from our customers that the leading products in the market will need to fulfil. The career development from this role is very wide as you will be working closely both with Marketing, Sales and Development.

What you need to succeed
We are looking for both junior and senior applicants. To successfully manage this role you need experience from working with C and preferably C++, Linux and Object Oriented Programming. Proficiency in English, both written and spoken, is required. Being able to communicate in Swedish is not a requirement but will be considered as a plus. Additional languages is also a plus as this position will travel extensively to various countries.

In order to reach success in this position you need to be a true team player, having the right mindset and a positive, can-do attitude, having a pragmatic approach to new challenges, being curious to develop new competences as well as enjoying to interact and collaborate with other teams and departments within the organization. Further on it is important to take and feel responsibility for the products and projects you are being assigned to as well as being flexible to quickly change focus based on the demand from new customer projects or implementations in the market. This position has high focus on customer interaction and it is therefore important that you feel confident standing in front of customers and for example present technical specifications of the product or troubleshoot software malfunctions on site with high attention from the customer.

Education
You hold a technical university degree or a Master of Science in Software Engineering.
