Software development for manufacturing process simulation – a chance to develop an application together with the end-user!
You will be able to lead a project and develop a tool in close cooperation with the end user, the manufacturing team leader. The intent of the tool is to be able to allow the user to simulate different scenarios for the manufacturing process.

The objective with this project is to develop an application for production process simulation. The application needs to have a sandbox environment where the end user can design, simulate and optimize processes completely from an intuitive UX. The purpose is to be able to identify bottlenecks and optimize process parameters such as number of operators, tools, work benches etc.

In the scope of this project is to:
• Define the user requirement specification (URS) together with the site representative
• Develop the application according to the defined URS
• Test and verify functionality
• Ensure functionality with restrictions to GE network and software policies
Out of scope for this project is to implement the usage of this application in the daily operations.

If you have any questions regarding the master thesis, please contact Project and Process Operations manager Cecilia Borg at +46 90150338.

Qualifications/Requirements:
• Experienced with programming
• Experienced with methods for statistical simulation
• Experienced in, or willing to learn, UX programming
• Able to develop in a language/environment supported by Windows OS and that is not inflicting license fees upon the end user (tool/language/environment for development is determined by applicant’s qualifications)
Two students that complement each other’s skill sets to match our requirement may also apply.

It is preferable that you:
• Have work or academic experience with manufacturing and/or logistics processes
• Are solution oriented and used to work independently
