MAX IV is a Swedish national large-scale research laboratory hosted by Lund University. It provides scientists from Sweden as well as internationally, with state-of-the-art instrumentation for research in areas such as engineering, physics, structural biology, chemistry and nanotechnology. Fully developed it will receive more than 2 000 scientists annually, conducting ground-breaking experiments in materials and life sciences using the brilliant X-ray light.

The Scientific and Information Management team handles Web applications for MAXIV. As part of the team, you will be in a unique position to take part in the endeavor to provide information services to the scientific community. We are a team with broad skill sets and considerable opportunity to learn and grow both as an individual and a professional.


MAX IV are looking for a Software Developer who will
contribute with skills and ideas to one/couple of our projects. The work falls within the umbrella of web development. One of the target projects is j5 which is aimed at implementing a Maintenance management system for the whole MAX IV facility, and develop it with the j5 Hexagon software.


Your main work tasks will be

  • Coding, testing and deployment
  • Fixing bugs
  • Database management – design, SQL
  • Attending meetings, gathering requirements
  • Documentation

To be successful in this role you need to have the following qualifications

  • A student in Computer Science or related courses
  • Skills in Nodejs, React
  • Skills handling PostgreSQL
  • Skills in JSON, GraphQL or REST
  • Understanding of RDBMS principles and skills in SQL
  • Strong communication skills, fluent in English
