Senior Data Engineer

As a senior data software engineer, you will help us continuously improve data architecture, build new data extraction and ingest models, design and populate cloud analytics data stores, and develop data orientated business services.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design stable, reliable and effective data services, data transformation and integration solutions, as well as data designs
• Develop, test, improve and maintain new and existing databases to help users retrieve data more effectively and for improved data analysis
• Work closely with other developers to integrate services, improve applications and ensure system consistency
• Develop, review and refine data models to meet business objectives
• Review and modify databases and stored procedures
• Research and suggest new data management and database products, services and protocols
• Test and troubleshoot the data systems and designs before go-live
Required Skills:
• Proven development experience building and testing data centric services, data ingestion , and/or data transformation (including ETL) services
• Development skills in Restful services, with unit and database testing, ideally with Java
• Hands on experience with a DBMS such as SQL-Server, Oracle or Postgres
• Understanding of database data management (e.g. permissions, recovery, security and monitoring)
• Knowledge and proficiency in data verification and data centric quality assurance
• Sound understanding of data domains including data modelling, data analytics, and information security and classification.
• Great communication skills, both oral and written
• Readiness to work in a global team with contributors from different backgrounds
• 5+ years of experience in professional software engineering
• Bachelor’s degree in Software/Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field, or comparable relevant experience
Preferred (Optional) Skills:
• Ability to design, implement and quality assure ETL/ELT processes, including data capture, data transformation, data quality, and testing and validation methods
• Experience with Big Data skills (e.g. HADOOP/Cassandra/Mongo DB/SPARK)
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Amazon AWS or Microsoft Azure
• Knowledge of Cloud SQL and Cloud datastores
• Understanding of Change Data Capture tools and processes
• Experience with Jenkins, ETL tools, Kafka, Teiid and Kubernetes products
• Practical experience with Agile/Scrum development processes, DevOps, CI/CD or Test-Driven Development
• Experience in Functional Reactive Programming (FRP)
