Digital communications assistant, graphics and social media

Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) is recruiting a digital communications assistant, with a focus on graphics and social media to join its communications team.

Established in 1966, SIPRI is consistently ranked as one of the world's top think tanks. The institute is dedicated to independent research into peace, conflict and security and is known worldwide for its flagship publication, the SIPRI Yearbook, and its databases. SIPRI is based in Stockholm, and has well-established, on-the-ground partnerships and operational networks across the globe. The staff of SIPRI is international and the working language is English.

You will be responsible for developing high-quality graphics and infographics for SIPRI’s online channels, as well as drafting appealing and engaging campaigns for SIPRI’s social media channels. You will join a small but dedicated communications and editorial team as SIPRI grows and refines its web presence.

Your key responsibilities include
• Draft, design and deliver graphics and infographics for SIPRI’s online channels.
• Design appealing and engaging content for SIPRI’s social media platforms.
• Cut and upload film content for SIPRI’s video channels.
• Help plan, set-up, monitor and actively use SIPRI’s social media accounts.
• Monitor social media performance and benchmark this against peers and competitors.
• Other drafting, design and editing of SIPRI communication materials.

Required skills and experience
• English as a native language
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
• Expert command of the Adobe Creative Suite: After Effects, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop and Premiere Pro, particularly as it relates to digital communication materials.
• Experience using social media (Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn) and social media management tools in a professional setting
• Experience in visualization tools, infographics and presentation technology
• Experience in video editing of interviews
• Strong organizational and project-management skills
• Ability to think creatively, observe detail and tailor design to reflect the audience; to cooperate professionally with researchers and colleagues; and to maintain deadlines under pressure

Desired skills and experience
• A university degree, preferably in political science, international relations, English language, journalism, graphic design or a natural science
• Interest in SIPRI’s research areas
• Demonstrable interest in political science
