System developer

We are growing fast and need to strengthen our team with a system developer who will contribute in the development of our rapidly expanding service catalogue by improving our DevOps pipelines and collaborating with a team of developers and experts.Together we build the smart energy solutions of tomorrow.

What will you do?
You will be building the back end of a cloud platform that energy companies use for analysing big sets of data to optimize their energy systems. The platform consolidates data from various sources and applies technical analyses, ML and optimization solutions to these data-sets. We don’t just provide a generic data management platform, instead we always strive to answer real questions our customers have, such as: “In which buildings would a renovation lead to the highest energy savings?”, or “In which parts of town will the distribution network struggle next time we get an unusually cold winter?”.

Much of our development is done by small teams of external freelancing developers which we lead from in-house. We wish to ramp up the rate of development, and have identified these areas as probable bottlenecks:

- Maintaining a good quality of testing & deployment pipelines between services
- Writing technical specifications and tests
- Code verification/review
- Administration of production infrastructure

As part of a small company developing a large platform, you can expect to work on a wide range of tasks related to a subset of the above areas. We value individual expertise and availability above job title when distributing tasks internally, so expect your day-to-day work to evolve as you grow into your position in the company.

Since our platform consists of a set of independent services, we expect you will naturally tend to spend more time on some services than others. Over time, it will be possible to grow your role into either an all-round in-house systems expert, or as a service owner with a high degree of freedom and responsibility for a smaller set of our platform.

We work with research, development and new technology. This means that a lot of the things we do, we do for the first time and some of the things we do, no one has done before. If this makes you excited and not to scared, you might be the one we are looking for. Curiosity, creativity and entrepreneurial spirit are highly valued traits. You should also have an analytical mind a desire to deeply understand how things really work.

We are a small and fast growing startup company where a few people fill many roles. You will help us build the company and must be open for participating in activities outside of your core competence.

We recommend that you have experience with- DevOps
- AWS infrastructure or other cloud platforms
- At least one of these languages, and an interest in learning the rest:
- Go
- Python
- JavaScript (specifically using ReactJS)

It’s useful if you have experience with- Being a team leader
- Energy systems and energy technology
- Database management
- Machine learning
- UX and front-end design
