As you might know, we’re building and running Scania Data Center Extension on AWS. How are you? Good, perhaps looking for a new place where you laugh, learn, fika and build value for your clients? Could be amazing, right?

Well, it is! We consider very few things “impossible” and we are evangelists for cloud, new tech and modern ways of working. We challenge blockers and old “truths” by working, growing and succeeding together.

What about our backgrounds?

The idea behind our team is to have a diversity from various IT areas of Scania, which currently includes: 

• Areas such as Application, Windows, Linux, Database, Network and Infrastructure
• Techies and Architects
• Everyone with a twist of DevOps mindset
• Some coding skills

Okay, enough about that. Let's talk tech!

We love to try new and exciting things. With us, you don't have to be a ninja of the specifics below, but rather a ninja of tech with an open mind and an urge to learn more. Don’t be discouraged if these bullets look scary. We’ll learn together!

We’re currently working with:

• A wide variety of cloud services on AWS
• Serverless, containers, managed services and sometimes instances/VMs
• Gitlab and pipelines using for example Gitlab Runners
• Operational excellence by automating backups, failovers, scaling, event-driven actions etc
• Scalability, security, cost-optimization and “cloud native” in everything
• Automation, DevOps and ideally NoOps, more automation and less manual work 
• Writing Infrastructure as Code and automation using CloudFormation and Terraform
• Writing or modifying code in Python
• How to communicate with our data centers, including networking and routing
• Architecting solutions for our clients

So, next question, what is our mission?

In practice this boils down to these major duties:

• Build and maintain service offerings that makes our customers lives easier on AWS
• Migrate workloads from our Data Centres to AWS
• Aid the rest of the IT and Infrastructure teams to benefit from the values that AWS brings
• Make sure that the above are done efficiently and securely in Data Center Extension on AWS

What we can do together

You now have the unique opportunity to become a full-time member of our team, during which we’ll show you the ropes of AWS, Gitlab, Scania Data Center Extension, while you contribute with your effort, experience, connections and knowledge. You will work with the topics mentioned above, in combination with building valuable connections with various teams across Scania. Your efforts will aid us in the cloud journey, as well as enabling you to take on future challenges as a t-shaped ninja with loads of cloud experience.
