Scientific Programmer

The position
Ignitia AB has a vacancy for a Scientific Programmer in Stockholm, Sweden, to work within a technical team of 4 members. Main duties will include:

- Improve efficiency, especially the robustness of our current super computer
system, maximising its reliability and performance
- Maintain and improve operational scripts, scheduling and robustness of the
environment
- Build an online monitoring interface for surveillance data reception,
generation processes and implement procedures to automatically notify
and/or solve common faults
- Build algorithms that ingest meteorological data for combined end product
leveraging on artificial intelligence algorithms
- Post processing of meteorological model data (Perl, Python, Unix shell
scripts, Fortran, C)
- Operational monitoring of systems on a rolling schedule

Qualifications
We expect you to have some experience or be able to develop new skills in:

- Parallel computers and computing
- Linux environment (Redhat, Debian, Ubuntu etc)
- Scripting languages such as Shell, Perl and Python
- Potentially Fortran, C, Octave (Matlab)
- Database management

In addition you should:
- Be able to work efficiently both independently and in our technical team
- Be flexible, but able to maintain focus under rapidly changing work tasks and
time pressure
- Be able and willing to learn new programming languages and open source
software tools
- Have a positive attitude
- Have good written and communication skills

Location
Stockholm, Sweden with travel to Ghana
