Frostbite is the most adopted platform for game development within EA and is used by key franchises such as Battlefield, Dragon Age, Need for Speed and Mass Effect. The technology is used exclusively by EA teams and studios, and our powerful runtime and workflows are highly configurable and cover all aspects of development including Audio, Animation, Cinematics, Scripting, Artificial Intelligence, Physics, Destruction, Rendering, Visual Effects, and more. Frostbite games are currently in development for current and future platforms including mobile devices.

The Challenge Ahead

We are looking for a talented person who is passionate about software development to provide daily team leadership within our Frostbite teams. We believe in strong, empowered teams with technical excellence that can deliver on our ambitious vision and goals. The Development Director (equivalent to Project Manager) work in partnership with the Product Owner and Technical Leader to ensure that the team have what they need to be successful. It's the Development Director's job to coach the team be autonomous and nurture a culture of learning.

What a Development Director does at Frostbite

The Development Director is responsible for the planning of time, resources and organization for their area of responsibility throughout the whole product cycle. Also, the Development Director is responsible for making the development process and results visible, raising risks and opportunities, present options and drive decision making in their area - i.e. given time and resources point out what is possible and make sure decisions are made in a timely fashion by the right stake holders so that progress is maintained. In tracking progress you are not just satisfied with task completion but require and push for quality while still caring for and protecting your team. The Development Directors also work together as a team, with their own backlog, to improve processes across the whole development organization.

The next great Frostbite Development Director also needs

We believe that the successful candidate has proven leadership skills and desire to lead. Project Management or Project Coordination experience; some years of leadership experience; strong negotiation, mediation and conflict resolution skills; effective communication skills across all levels of an organization; ability to motivate and inspire team. We think that you have a background in Computer Science, Production or equivalent. Experience from game development and people management is a plus.

We believe that you are comfortable and have experience working with (or equivalent):
- Agile development, using Scrum/Kanban/Lean
- Project development with emphasis on team empowerment
- Perform and act on Retrospectives
- Risk analysis and mitigation techniques
- Tools, e.g. Jira, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Perforce, etc.
