Product Design Lead

At Storytel we believe that powerful stories add an extra dimension to life. We offer hundreds of thousands of audiobooks and ebooks to customers in 20+ markets, with several new markets launching in the coming year. Storytel is Northern Europe's largest audiobook streaming service and we are striving to place our design work even higher on our agenda. An important step on this journey is to find a Product Design Lead who will be responsible for leading the team in maintaining a consistent design throughout our products.

The UX and UI designers at Storytel are distributed between different product areas and are working in different cross-functional teams. As Product Design Lead, it will be your main responsibility to organize a growing design team to ensure we work in the best possible way. To ensure consistency across the different teams, creating a visual experience that is aligned with our overall brand guidelines throughout the entire user journey. You will work closely with designers and stakeholders to ensure that our products hold a high standard in terms of user experience and visual design. You will be the go-to person for other departments when they are in need of UX/UI resources and you will advocate the value of design to help establish a shared vision across the company.

What you will do:

- Build a collaborative and inclusive design team that works closely with tech teams to deliver quality results, avoiding the silo mentality.
- Hire and grow a team of talented UX and UI designers.
- Inspire and coach designers to reach their full potential.
- Encourage collaboration within the team, developing design processes together to ensure that the best, most relevant practices are employed and are evolving with the growth of the company.
- Collaborate with designers and stakeholders (for example product managers and our global marketing team) to ensure knowledge transfer and making sure that the Storytel brand is consistent no matter what touchpoint a user has with Storytel.
- Own the visual design guidelines for our different products and platforms.
- Create a link between the UX and UI designers across teams, ensuring consistency and high quality in user experience and visual design.
- Lead regular design reviews, workshops and ideation sessions for team members.
- Keep yourself and our visual design up-to-date with the latest trends.

Who you are:

- This is a new role at Storytel and you will be part of defining it. You are flexible, good at taking initiatives and making things happen.
- You have experience from organizing and building a designer team.
- You have a deep understanding of user experience, visual design and agile methods.
- You have 5+ years of professional experience in UX/UI design, prototyping, visual design and user research, including 2+ years managing a team of designers.
- You have an portfolio with case studies of relevant UX/UI projects that demonstrate a history of successful design implementations.
- You have advanced knowledge of design software such as Sketch, Zeplin, Abstract, Marvel, Axure, XD and Figma, and experience in documenting design.
- You have great communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
- You are passionate about leading and coaching a team and you see the big picture - giving guidance both on short term needs and long term strategic goals.
- It’s a bonus if you have experience in facilitating design methods such as design sprints and workshops.
