Junior Backend Developer - Data Team

We are now looking for a Junior Developer to work as part of our Data team in the DevOps department. The DevOps department is responsible for the Paradox Ecosystem which provides a variety of services and products to Paradox’s various Game Studios.

The Data team is responsible for all player data stored by Paradox which includes the integrity, security, and accessibility of our data. Development projects will primarily be focused on account security/authentication, data/telemetry ingestion and processing, infrastructure templates and data pipelines/streaming.

The team is cross-functional, consisting of Developers and Data Engineers. In your role, as a Junior Developer, you will be working on our Paradox telemetry services, data warehousing, database architecture, data access controls, data compliance and automation. You will also be expected to support the Data Engineers on the Team in the execution of their tasks.

What you will be doing:

• Generalized backend development (NodeJS and Python).
• Build, maintain and review Python/SQL ETLs.
• Optimize and extend the data pipeline and related data services.
• Contribute to the design and maintenance of the database architecture.

What we would like to see:

• Some experience with JavaScript(NodeJS) and/or Python.
• A good understanding of how backend APIs work (CRUD, REST, etc.).
• Educational or vocational experience of working with a database query language (SQL variants).

Ways to stand out from the crowd:

• Previous experience working on a live product or service designed to be frequently updated.
• Test-oriented mindset with unit and/or integration tests written using a standard library such as Mocha or similar.
• Good understanding and practical experience of Agile methodologies.

We believe you are a service-minded, driven, and explorative individual; Your English communication skills are excellent. You are patient, taking the time to understand others as well as in explaining yourself.
