Graph Databases have seen explosive growth in recent years, due to the power of the graph data model over the traditional relational model. We sell to Fortune 500 companies around the world, and also have a community version available as open source software.
 
 The Role ->

We are looking for a performance engineer with a broad range of skills, ranging from backend development to low level performance profiling.

You will work within a small, focussed team, guiding and supporting the development of performance critical database components.

You will be designing and developing our mission-critical benchmarking infrastructure, and ensuring information about the state of Neo4j database performance is effectively disseminated.

You will guide other development teams to design benchmarks for new features and interpret their results.

We’re looking for people with some combination of the following skills:

• Superior communication skills
• Sound understanding of database systems
• Proficiency in Java
• Strong troubleshooting skills High attention to detail Interest in learning new things

Ideally you also have experience with:

• Development of performance benchmarks for database systems
• Low level performance profiling and optimization, particularly on the JVM.
• Using tools such as: Java Flight Recorder, Async Profiler, PerfJava Microbenchmarking Harness (JMH)Continuous integration frameworks, cloud computing services, and containers (we use TeamCity, AWS, and Docker)

We don’t expect you to have experience across all these areas, our team has a mix of people with different skill sets. Additionally, our teams are spread over several locations in Europe, so you should be comfortable working as part of a distributed team.
