We are looking for a DevOps Engineer / Linux (Red Hat) Sys admin to work with development and deliveries of design environments for 4G/5G in the Packet Core domain. The Packet Core consists of multiple Ericsson products for network elements which needs to be combined and set-up to work as a functioning and stable environment. They exist in both integrated versions with dedicated hardware, and as virtualized versions that run on different hypervisors such as OpenStack (CEE+RedHat), VMWare as well as Cloud Native platform using Kubernetes or Docker.

These environments are used by 5G developers to design their code and builds in the Design environment before publishing the builds and initializing the test execution in our test channels in the Test environment. After the code release our systems and function testers verify and validate network functions during software development or integration activities.

The daily work includes analysis, implementation and support of customer requirements, building as well as changing product/system/OS core configurations and using system monitoring/troubleshooting tools to give best-in-class support to our users. The work is performed in teams working agile - across both organizational and geographical borders.

Responsibilities & Tasks

  • Teamwork on support and supply of test equipment to Packet Core R&D.
  • Drive improvements and automation of products and processes.
  • Respond to technical support queries and provide solutions to stakeholders.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation.
  • Part of feature studies within an area
  • Identify needs and suggest architectural redesign

Preferred Qualifications & Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor or master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Systems or Network Technology.
  • Several years of experience as a Linux sys admin both in a physical and in a cloud based virtual environment (Kubernetes, Docker, VMware)
  • Strong scripting skills and experience in Python, Bash and Perl.
  • Strong knowledge and experience working with Puppet and/or Ansible.
  • Good knowledge and working experience with Git, Gerrit and Jenkins.
  • Understanding of supporting services such as DNS, DHCP, LDAP and similar domain service.
  • Monitoring system based on Nagios.
  • A combination of a developer background with a Linux sys admin profile would be advantageous.
