Join us for the opportunity to become a key member in a cross-functional team, working on a central platform for automating and personalising frontpages across some of Scandinavia’s largest publications, during our unique 6-8 week paid summer internship.

You will be placed at the heart and center of our Media Platform, working with data that determines the content and optimizes the frontpages on news sites, with millions of daily users across both desktop and mobile devices.

Curate sets out to revolutionize how we distribute the right content to the right user at the right time. It’s as simple as that. In Curate you’ll be part of a highly dedicated and competent cross-functional team with everything it needs to realize its mission, including skills within engineering, UX, product management, data analysis and data science/machine learning.

The team has proved the founding bet: that an automated frontpage can perform better than a manually curated one, and we are now in the process of scaling and improving the offering.

About the Curate team:

Curate is serving an automated frontpage for some of Norway’s and Sweden’s largest newspapers, including Aftenposten, Bergens Tidende, Stavanger Aftenblad, Fædrelandsvennen and we are currently onboarding Aftonbladet

Curate collaborates closely with Data Scientists, Engineers and Product Managers from most of Schibsted’s Media Houses

We are a cross-functional team of 11 people across Stockholm, Oslo and Kraków

What you will do:

-
You will work closely with our stakeholders and of course others in the Curate team. Engineers, Designers, Managers and Data Scientists alike.

You will be given your own tasks and paired with a Staff Data Scientist who will mentor and support you through the whole internship period

You will be able to use technologies you know in real-life projects and you will also play with technologies which are new to you

You will work together with an experienced mix of people as well as get to know more about our product

At the end of the internship period, we would love for you to present a summary of what you have done, learned, as well as suggest potential ideas and share your findings

About you:

-
Pursuing Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Machine learning, Computer Science and/or a related field

-
You are a 4th-5th year student

-
Experience in using Python, R and SQL as well as source control tools such as Git

You’re able to commit to a 6-8 week summer internship

You have knowledge of statistical methods

-
You want to experience data science work in a real world environment

You have good English skills and are comfortable using it on a daily basis

You are willing to learn and you have your own ideas which you would like to implement

Product & Tech is responsible for product development in News Media. The unit consists of product managers, software engineers, UX experts, and user researchers. A big part of our work is developing joint technology platforms for Schibsted’s news brands. These include platforms for content production and distribution, digital subscriptions, and advertising. Most of our teams work distributed, with colleagues in Oslo, Stockholm, Krakow, Gdansk, Bergen, and Stavanger.
