What’s in it for you?
Our manufacturing facilities and supply chains are core to making Volvo run smoothly. This role is within our Industrial Operations team, which provides digital technologies to support our manufacturing solutions globally. You will be part of the global manufacturing execution cluster which support our plants by developing best in class manufacturing systems. With an always-on mindset you will be working closely with colleagues in the factory (engineering, operation & maintenance) in designing, configuring and managing solutions for their devices, tools and applications. You will also be working closely with the local Factory On-Site team and be supported by global specialists and operations teams to harmonize local systems to global standards. The team is also a key contributor when new technology and solutions are to be implemented in our manufacturing environments.

What you'll do
* Agile software development with support of tools like e.g. SonarQube and concepts like code reviews, pull requests etc.
* Assisting the team in analyzing features, stories and talking to users to understand their needs.
* Managing a DevOps pipeline using continuous integration and continuous deployment.

You and your skills
We are looking for a junior software engineer, newly graduated or with a few years of experience.

Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written.

Technical background
* Experience of programming, testing and operational management (Design/Build/Maintain) of IT-systems/applications.
* Java background required (preferred full stack), other programming languages is beneficial
* Knowledge of back-end development including data models, persistence layers, back-end services (REST APIs), caching strategies and synchronous/asynchronous messaging.
* Knowledge with container technology such as Docker running in Kubernetes.
* Knowledge of SQL Server and MongoDB
* Knowledge of cloud-based solutions and management in Azure.
* Knowledge in technology frameworks like Spring Boot, Kafka, Elastic, Kibana, IBM WebSphere and IBM MQ is seen as a benefit.
