Experienced Solution Leader for the virtual configuration domain

Position Description

Virtual Lifecycle Management solutions covers CAD, Virtual Product lifecycle management (PLM), Augmented and Virtual reality applications. The solutions are a key enabler to achieve engineering efficiency, virtual trust, and the digital twin capabilities across the Volvo Group.

Volvo is driving several exciting transformation projects and initiatives to digitalize our business processes and leverage the value of data and become a fully data-driven company. We are Virtual Lifecycle Management Solution Centre working to increase efficiency through our current set of digital and IT solutions.

Our existing IT solutions comprises of a mix of varied technologies like Microsoft, Java, and Commercial Off the shelf (COTS) IT solutions and SaaS solutions from CAD and PLM vendors. We find ourselves on the cusp of a transformation with heavy investments to transform and modernize our overall IT architecture.

We are supporting the Volvo Group’s Digital ambitions to become a fully agile, data-driven company, and we are building the foundations for the virtual trust, supported by improved use of digital twins, i.e the digital data representing a physical object as well as an improved digital thread, the integrated view of physical products’ digital data through it’s lifecycle.

Role mission & context

Solution

• Understand business needs and way of working with Virtual Configuration applications.
• Propose and prioritize improvements for the solutions (new functionality, version upgrade, configuration...)
• Follow up the IT deliveries, support and maintenance, from the IT delivery teams
• Propose needed service level targets (through SLA)
• Manage the License renewals

Towards Users

• Secure that the solution delivery plan is aligned with the level of business criticality for the solution
• Main point of contact for business requirement, roll-out needs etc.
• Sets the business requirements for hand-over from projects to maintenance
• Set-up and drive the Process & Solution Key User network
• Ensure effective end-user support incl. Training needs is secured for the solution with high quality
• Communicate Enhancement estimates to the BSPM

Other

• You will drive the supplier relations
• Work as project manager within the domain
• Share knowledge and experiences within the Solution Leader community

Required competencies

• Good understanding of working in an PLM environment with different organizations and needs
• PLM applications (Windchill, Creo, Catia, CreoView) and related infrastructure (Windows Server, storage, network)
• Relevant business understanding of virtual configuration management to provide virtual contexts to different end applications and formats
• Social skills is of importance to communicate with different stakeholders and to drive a global Process & Solution Key User network
• Self-driven and open minded person that has the ability to have a good overview but still the sense for details
• Work with and drive activities together with a team having great experience in the area and Volvo’s Way of working
• Engineering degree or similar within relevant areas
• Self-driven and flexible in planning your timetable to enable cooperation with global colleagues

Wanted profile

You have a few years of experience working within the product development department and in the area of Product Configuration. You are open to and enjoy change and continuous improvement work.

Since you are part of a global unit, with global responsibilities, you must enjoy to actively cooperate with various stakeholders around the world and to navigate in a multi-cultural environment. It is important you have an innovative and creative mindset in order to inspire and challenge in your organization.

We expect you to be curious, have great problem-solving skills and to have a genuine interest in IT

Some travels are required abroad occasionally, although the main means of work will be to leverage digital and virtual collaboration tools.
