Candela Speed Boat is leading the transformation towards electric boating. By combining hydrofoils with carbon composites and an all-electric drive train, we reach a speed and range on par with combustion engine boats. Add to that an almost silent ride and unmatched smoothness in high waves. That has been achieved by combining the most advanced concepts of material science, hydrodynamics and control system theory.

Our exciting opportunity

It’s now time to expand the Research & Development team with an experienced AI Engineer in Computer Vision with focus on bringing the first autonomous electric boat to the market.

The plan is to fit a boat with various sensors and have the vessel navigate fully autonomously. This is achieved by developing a guidance system using sensors in form of cameras, radar and other technologies known from the automotive industry.

The guidance system will communicate with the existing navigation and control system that is in the production boats today.

Your responsibilities:

- Develop and train neural networks
- Writing code for object detection, route planning, collision avoidance
- Evaluate and integrate various sensors

To be successful in the role you must have:

It is expected that the candidate has experience with deep learning frameworks like: Pytorch, Tensorflow or similar. Advanced Python programming skills, competent in C/C++ and experience working with sensors like cameras are a requirement.

We believe that a suitable candidate has a Masters’ degree in (preferable Software or Electrical) Engineering and at least 2-3 years of experience from working with machine learning and data science.

To succeed in the role it is important that you have proven analytical skills, is comfortable in working independently, is accountable and hard working.

This is a full time position at our Headquarter and production facility in Gåshaga, Lidingö. Working language is English, if you also know Swedish it will be a benefit for yourself, but it is not a prerequisite for the role.
