What you'll be up to

So we are doing a real app investment. Like a huge upgrade as we’re doubling up both on the both iOS and Android side. Together with the team you’ll work on both new features and maintenance, to continuously modernise the app. We work in Kotlin on Android, Swift on iOS and strive to write maintainable, clear code that is testable, and we use continuous integration and code reviews to ensure we get it right.

Our apps have undergone many design and technical revisions. When we see a new technology or pattern that may benefit our apps and product we don't hesitate to become early adopters and position ourselves ahead of the curve.

Who are you?

We believe you are a seasoned developer with at least 4 years hands-on experience of Android or iOS development working in a team. You are able to independently lead the development of new features, and enjoy discussing and debating code and solutions with your peers. You like sharing your knowledge with your team and junior developers and above all, you are curious and continuously strive to learn new things. We are often working in pairs so collaboration is another key.

Welcome to our awesome and dedicated app team! A team with in-depth knowledge about apps and everything around it, but also appreciates team outings like boule, picnics and a beer or two. For us there are so many great things about Blocket. The major thing is that we are environmental friendly and enhance the secondhand use. The second thing we really appreciate is the fact that Blocket promotes innovation and growth, amongst other things through hackdays/hackathons, which are great fun! A third thing is our team, which is very friendly and social and we have a lot of fun together. We support and help each other with anything that pops up. We got each others back! Sten is our manager and he is doing it great. Easy to talk to, keeps us focused and makes sure we prioritize right (to put it straight, we are a super appreciated team - we are kind of needed. Hello from your manager!

My name is Sten and I'm the Engineering Manager in the App Team. My team and I are responsible for our iOS and Android apps, used by hundreds of thousands users every day. Working with a product that is loved and used by so many users while be able to innovate and try out new things are some of my biggest motivators. Doing it with this small but passionate team is a huge bonus.

While our app user base is growing by the minute, focus is shifting to our apps. All our marketplaces want things done. Currently our greatest challenge is building an architecture that supports this fast pace. This is where you come in (help please)! If you want to contribute to a great passionate team, then I am very much looking forward to hear from you.
