Machine Learning Engineer

Northvolt has an exciting job offer for a Machine Learning Engineer to join our stellar team in Stockholm.

As a Machine Learning Engineer within the AI team, you will use your expertise to consume large amounts of heterogenous data from our batteries, factories and R&D facilities to build products that solve important problems and lead to discovery of insights. We are searching for someone passionate about using using machine learning to solve a wide variety of problems. The ideal candidate is a curious life-long learner who takes ownership and is eager to collaborate to build better products. You enjoy communicating and empathizing with people in diverse professional roles, cultural backgrounds, and experience levels in data-driven approaches. This role is a vital member of the Digitalization team and is key to Northvolt's mission to enable the future of energy.

In this role, you will:

- Develop, evaluate, deploy and monitor state of the art algorithms (Example: Build defect detection models for vision inspection systems that run on edge on the factory floor and monitor models to avoid drift or deterioration over time)
- Apply software engineering to build efficient and scalable solutions that are deployed in a critical production setting (Example: Writing high quality, reusable code and components)
- Be encouraged to keep up to date with latest research within machine learning and sharing your knowledge (Example: Read and implement papers on relevant topics and discuss your learnings)
- Use a data-driven approach to solve unique and potentially unsolvable problems that require more than off-the-shelf algorithms (Example: Consume tremendous amounts of heterogenous data from the manufacturing process and field usage to solve the problem of remaining useful life for batteries)

Preferred experience:

- Python: building machine learning models and deployment pipelines in at least one deep learning framework such as TensorFlow or PyTorch
- Software engineering: version control, unix shell, testing
- Communication, communication, communication. You communicate fluently and humbly with all types of different humans choosing effective methods based on context, audience and purpose.
