At Paradox, we are focused on bringing value to our community by creating groundbreaking features for both players and game developers. If you are a passionate developer who would like to work at a successful game company full of people passionate about technology and games, read on and learn how you can be part of the fun and talented DevOps team!

We are now looking for automation engineers to work with the various technologies that are used in Paradox games and the surrounding ecosystem. The DevOps team is responsible for Paradox’s cloud environments, as well as a wide set of features and products including the Paradox Account, cross-platform multiplayer technology, social/player features (leaderboards, cloud saves, etc.), the Paradox Plaza store, forums, as well as the game SDK that exposes these features to our games, and many others!

In this role, you will make day-to-day key decisions, and together with the rest of the team you will explore and develop groundbreaking features for both players and game developers. You will be a key member in designing, building, improving, and shaping the effort in realizing features that enrich our Paradox ecosystem. This also means that you will be working closely with all of the Paradox game development studios, other DevOps teams, as well as the publishing organization, in order to maximize the consumption of our services to guarantee we continue delivering Paradox's signature experiences.

What you will be doing (among other things):

  • CI/CD orchestration, allowing developers to focus purely on business delivery (e.g. automatically build commits, run tests, deploy to environments)
  • Service orchestration and management (e.g. logging, monitoring, updates, etc.)
  • Scaling and distribution of our platforms and services, both internal and player-facing
  • Balancing environment resiliency and graceful service degradation
  • Infrastructure platform management, as well as providing cloud-native expertise to other DevOps teams
  • Managing live environments and responding to related issues
  • Continuous Infrastructure development and improvements (current and future solutions)
  • Creating solutions for other partners/teams consumption
  • Support and mentor other team members through knowledge sharing and coaching

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of professional experience, preferably in a services team
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in cloud operational infrastructure and services
  • Experience working within one or more public cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc.)
  • Extensive knowledge of Terraform and Kubernetes
  • Comfortable with a range of programming languages and technologies
  • Coding/scripting knowledge for automation of infrastructure
  • Experience with agile development
  • Proficient with code versioning tools, such as Git or similar frameworks
  • Experience in mentoring other members of the team

What we’d like to see:

  • Ansible (or similar)
  • Container orchestration (Docker or similar)
  • Linux (Ubuntu) administration
  • Build job orchestration (Jenkins or similar)
  • Deployment pipeline automation
  • Application/service load balancing
  • Good knowledge about caching solutions

Ways to stand out from the crowd:

  • Mesos, Docker Swarm
  • AWS Lambda or GCP Cloud Function orchestration familiarity
  • Service-to-service certificate authorization
  • Security-related services (AWS Shield, Akamai, etc.)
  • Monitoring experience (Prometheus, DataDog, Grafana, etc.)
  • Fastly experience (Varnish)

We believe you are a service-minded, driven, and explorative individual; you don’t have problems with making decisions and handling the responsibilities that come with it. You are used to solving problems and working independently as well as in a team. Your role in a team is flexible and can include being the one who identifies viable solutions and implements appropriate solutions. Your English communications skills, both verbal and written, are excellent and are backed by patience in taking the time to understand others as well as sharing knowledge.

If you think that this description matches you, we highly encourage you to apply as soon as possible as we will interview candidates continuously. If you don't match all the requirements, please demonstrate how your passion, attitude and interest in Paradox might compensate for this.

At Paradox Interactive we celebrate difference and care deeply about diversity and inclusion. We therefore encourage you, no matter who you are, to apply for this job if you think you’d be a great addition to our team.
