Our mind blowing infotainment system, powered by Android Automotive, is certainly one best infotainment systems on the market. While we developed our infotainment system together with Google, we want to spread the joy to others as well. 

Volvo Cars is setting up a new partnership with technology company ECARX and establishing a new joint venture to develop and commercialize the base software platform of our Volvo Cars infotainment system. The platform will be made available to all brands within Volvo Cars Group and Geely Group, as well as to ECARX to commercialize.

What’s in it for you?

The Audio Systems group is responsible for HW-SW- and System development of all audio functionality in our vehicles. Apart from the sound systems (Head unit inhouse SW-development, amplifier and speakers) the responsibility also includes systems like ANC (Active Noise Control), Microphones, Bluetooth Handsfree and Exterior Sound for Hybrid/Electrical vehicles.

Project Management and Audio Tuning is also part of the group’s responsibilities. Our daily work includes transforming ideas into innovations to meet the high standards of future vehicles. We apply the latest software development practices, and teams are supported with continuous integration frameworks and collaboration tools.

What will you do?

As a Senior Software developer, you will be one of the persons that lead our development and guide the team. You will together with the rest of the audio platform team develop the low-level platform software modules of the Android based infotainment system with focus on audio.

This work also consists of designing, developing, and debugging audio related API’s, solve SW problems that are close to the hardware and optimize the platform for performance. 

Do you fit the profile?

To be successful in this role you have several years experience of software development of embedded systems (Linux or Android platform development), C++ (preferably ver. 14 or 17). Your academic background is a Master’s degree in computer science or similar.

Proven experience in the audio domain with understanding of audio signal flows, audio blocks and audio communication protocols like SomeIP/AVB, A2B etc are important for the role. You are familiar working in an organization that have a large continuous integration flow and works seamless with tools like GIT/Gerrit. If you have knowledge from working in the QNX domain and experience of working with the Android HAL that is meritorious. 

As for your personality qualities, you are a result driven and team-oriented person with a growth mindset. You are curious by nature and finding the best working practices is core in everything you do. You are happy to share your best practices and equally happy to learn from others.
