What’s in it for you?
This role is within our Architecture & Software Hub team. Our team is driving, not only where our future digital architecture is headed, but also how we as a company engage with external developers, how we continue to evolve as a software company by embracing new technology, and basically reinventing Volvo Cars from within.

As the Developer and core member of our engineering team, you will be key when designing and developing new capabilities of our innovation portal ecosystem and create value for our users. You will help bring innovations from Volvo Cars different tech teams to life for external and internal developers, designers, and partners.

To succeed in this role, you should have a start-up mindset where you quickly develop prototypes, catalyze and engage in technology decisions, and find your way in a fast-paced, fluid product development environment. Of course, you are experienced with agile development and understand the importance of software development best practices.

This position will report to the Head of Architecture & Software Hub and is located in Volvo Cars offices in Gothenburg, Sweden.

What you’ll do
In this role, you will continuously engage with the developer community in Volvo Cars to identify and onboard initiatives to the Open Innovation Portal. Use and create open-source projects so developers can adopt the company’s offerings quicker and more confidently.

Actively participating in day-to-day change activities while providing the appropriate levels of support and coaching for Volvo Cars team members are a part of your role description. You engage in Conferences & Tech events and you enjoy being a part of hackathons externally & internally.

You and your skills
We think you are an experienced Backend Engineer who’s worked on data models, distributed applications, and complex business logic. You are experienced with containerized deployments in k8s with Test Driven Development. Strong analytical thinking and creative problem-solving skills are needed in this role.

You should have knowledge of Backend development with languages such as Java and Typescript or equivalent. You have experience using REST APIs and an understanding of HTTP and REST architecture. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Must be a team player and open to change. You have a fun, friendly, and collaborative attitude. You understand the importance of clean code best practices and have experience with AWS, Azure, or other major cloud providers.
