WHAT UTOPIANS DO

We are building a better world for music with innovative big data technology that tracks online music sources and translates them into meaningful music consumption reports for royalty collection. The solution we’re building does not threaten to usurp the role of industry incumbents - it is about bringing transparency in the industry and supporting efficient royalty collection.

WHAT YOUR ROLE WILL BE

You will be integral to our Data Team building and continuously improving our data pipeline to process tens of millions of music consumption events per day - and making sense out of it! You’ll collaborate with the engineering team to extract the data and make it available for data analysts to work their magic. You’ll keep your eye on operational excellence as reliable and scalable data pipelines are invaluable.

Your focus will be:

- Collaborating with engineers, product managers and data analysts to understand data needs.
- Enhance data expertise and own data quality for your areas of ownership.
- Design, build and launch new data pipelines and models in production.
- Define and manage SLA for all data sets in your areas of ownership.
- Support data analysts and scientists to extract new valuable insights form the data
- Work closely with Tech and Analytics teams to bridge the gap and make the data flow much smoother to move towards a more automated product and platform.

THE IDEAL SKILLSET

- 2+ years experience in the data warehouse space.
- 2+ years experience in custom ETL design, implementation and maintenance.
- 2+ years experience working with data technologies like Map Reduce, Google BigQuery or Apache Spark.
- 2+ years experience with programming languages, Python preferred.
- Hands on and deep experience with schema design and dimensional data modelling.
- Ability to write efficient SQL statements.
- Ability to analyse data to identify deliverables, gaps and inconsistencies.
- Excellent communication skills including the ability to identify and communicate data driven insights.
- Passion for automation and operational excellence.
