Scania is currently undergoing an exciting transformation from a traditional truck manufacturer to a provider of complete sustainable transport solutions. IT is a crucial part of this transformation as Scania’s success is depending on an efficient use of the power of software and data.

Do you want to be an active participant in driving Scania IT towards our 2025 strategy, objectives and financial targets? We need you who want to develop our business in line with our vision and strategy.

Are you the passionate technical writer we are looking for?

We are actively seeking a technical writer for our OAS (Object and Structure tool) development team. OAS is Scania’s in-house developed PDM (Product Data Management) system – the core system that enables Scania’s modular approach when building vehicles by housing product data, structures, and support for lifecycle management.

As a technical writer in an agile development team you will be responsible for providing high quality technical documentation that
• augments and reinforces the material presented to users during training.
• supports our end users with the latest OAS documentation
• presents an overview of the OAS object model and its key concepts to developers.
• provides a reference for the various OAS Services and REST APIs to developers.
• provides a knowledge base that describes the OAS Documentation – its structure, layouts, XML tags, and rendering paradigms.

In addition, you will work in close cooperation with product owners and UX designers on issues relating to functional requirements, as well as the trainers attached to YMSM.

Your Profile
You have a passion for technical documentation, are a staunch advocate for the user, and believe that:
“If it’s that hard to explain, there’s something wrong with the design!”

You can drive innovation and manage documentation needs within a fast paced, agile environment. You are a team player, but are also capable of working independently.

You have a proactive approach, excellent problem-solving skills, and you enjoy taking on new challenges. You have excellent communication skills, and feel comfortable working closely with different groups within the business.

A crucial part is that you love to explore and increase your knowledge!

For the nerdy
All OAS documentation pages are formatted as XML, stored as OAS objects, and rendered dynamically as HTML web pages on demand. Your responsibilities will include maintaining and enhancing the underlying XSD schemas and XSLT stylesheets that make this possible.
(This will of course be learned inhouse and prior XML skills are not as important as the love of writing and sharing knowledge. )

Technically, you
• have a degree in communication or similar, and/or equivalent experience.
• are proficient in written English.
• have extensive knowledge and experience in documenting single page web interfaces, and hopefully an understanding in their underlying object models and APIs.
• are proficient with tools for visualising/illustrating methods on e.g. screenshots
• have worked with version control systems, such as Git.

Hopefully already, else you will
• be familiar with agile-based iterative/incremental software development methods, such as Kanban or Scrum.
• have extensive knowledge of web development technologies such as HTML/CSS, XML, XSD schemas, and XSLT stylesheets.

Previous software development experience and proficiency in written and spoken Swedish are significant pluses.

What’s in it for you?
We offer you an interesting, fun, challenging and developing journey together with engaged colleagues within IT and business. The work environment is international and your colleagues and stakeholders are representing different nationalities and companies. In this exciting and dynamic surrounding you can influence the future IT landscape within the TRATON organization.

Scania has a competitive package of benefits, such as private lease of car, bonuses, flexible working hours and much more. Working from home is nowadays more a fact than a wish and Scania is one of the leading companies on the market that has implemented this approach.
