About The Team

On a high-level, the data team is driven by making a real impact by facilitating smarter decisions across the whole organization. It's a broad scope, but this includes data engineering, data science, product analytics, and business intelligence.

The team aims to collaborate and closely partner with Plejd’s internal teams in all areas, including production, engineering, operations, marketing, finance, and customer service to assist them to make more informed decisions so that they can ultimately build better products.

We will address these needs by building a solid infrastructure and applications that make data more accessible among the different areas of the company.

We are looking for a Database Engineer to join our team in Mölndal.

What You’ll Do

You will help the data team architect and maintain our growing number of databases. You will help optimize existing queries and databases as well as plan and implement new database architectures for a variety of data types and needs. You will help pick the right database and tooling for the job, and make sure databases are running smoothly and securely.

You’ll work in the data team and have close collaboration with other teams at Plejd where you’ll evaluate and implement modern solutions and technology that will increase the efficiency of data engineering workflows at Plejd.

You And Your Skills

We are looking for a Database Engineer with experience in cloud computing, and data storage techniques. You should also be comfortable with designing solutions and architecting for real-time data streaming and batch pipelines as well as help propose solutions for optimizing database efficiency.

Programming skills are of course required, and you should have familiarity with JavaScript and perhaps Python so that you can help optimize existing queries as well as write new optimized queries for a variety of API’s and data analytics.

You should have some experience with a variety of SQL and NoSQL databases to be able to select the right database for the project. Specifically we would like real-world experience with MongoDB and perhaps some working knowledge of PostgreSQL. Other databases that interest us include time-series and graph databases, but that is just nice to have.

We do use cloud-hosted solutions for our databases and you are not expected to be able to roll your own databases and self-host them. But perhaps you have some familiarity with cloud hosted data storage and tiered storage techniques as well such as AWS S3. We could use them for historical and large data sets.

You must have strong collaboration and communication skills with team members.
