Digital Matte Painter

As a DMP Artist at ILP, you will be responsible for creating digital extensions and providing enhancements to live action and fully CG rendered material. The job involves problem solving using a combination of 2D, 2.5D and 3D techniques most suitable for the task.

We are primarily looking for people with a keen artistic eye, who are comfortable with preparing and managing geometries and cameras for photo & CG based projection setups. A solid understanding of light, color, composition and photography is essential.

In this role you will collaborate closely with show leads and supervisors and aid in the planning and execution of Digital Matte Paintings.

Our ideal candidate has a secondary interest/skill in a related area such as Concept Art, Compositing, or Generalist 3D.

• Capable of creating high quality Digital Matte Paintings for urban, organic, and futuristic environments as extensions of plates, CG, or standalone.
• Thorough knowledge of Nuke, 2.5D/projection based workflow
• Thorough knowledge of photoshop
• 3+ years of VFX experience or equivalent.
• Knowledge of a 3D package used to build geometry and set up cameras for DMP
• Comfortable dealing with multiple photographic sources like panoramic images, HDRIs, photogrammetry, etc.

• Generalist 3D Skills, such as modeling, lookdev and lighting
• Concept Art Skills
• Comfortable in a linux environment
• Experience using shotgun as an artist in a production environment
• Experienced with terrain generation software and workflows would be ideal
