About the Position

We are looking for a Technical Director to lead the development of our TermWeb® software, including the management of our system infrastructure, to ensure security and efficiency of operations.

To be successful in this role, you should be confident in managing teams while setting goals, budgets, and timelines for various projects. We also expect you to be responsible for technical integration with external partner software and oversee development plans from ideation to execution. Ultimately, you should make sure we use innovative technologies that maximize our productivity and help our company grow.

Responsibilities

• Manage engineering teams and individual contributor software engineers
• Operate as an architect, technical lead, mentor, and subject matter expert for engineering teams
• Be the technical owner of our TermWeb software, its infrastructure, and maintaining 24x7 availability and service
• Work with Engineering Teams, Senior Leadership, Program Management, Product Management, and Operations to deliver agreed-upon goals and meet targets
• Be proactive in proposing solutions to improve our engineering processes, architecture, codebase, and reliability of our software solutions
• Ensure current documentation of every architectural decision along with administrator, developer, and user documentation.
• Lead by example and dive into the code when necessary to help teams design, write and test
• Strong advocate for high code quality, test coverage, maintainability, and reliability

Skills & Experience

• 8+ years of experience with software engineering
• 5+ years of experience as a people manager
• Proficient in Agile practices
• Experience in building scalable microservices supporting hundreds of thousands of requests per second with uptime exceeding 99.95%.
• Experience building cloud-based services in AWS or similar cloud environment
• Strong understanding of source code version control systems, Git, Github, and code branching/merging strategies
• Deep understanding of data structures, algorithms and performance tuning
• Experience of strong engineering design patterns to promote loosely coupled systems
• Very strong OOP skills with ability to evaluate code designs with respect to maintainability
• Deep understanding of web technologies, HTTP protocol, REST API services
• Solid understanding of databases, including SQL, NoSQL, and NewSQL databases
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and ability to write thorough software design specifications
• Extensive experience interviewing and evaluating software engineer candidates
• Preferrable knowledge of technological stack is Java + SpringBoot, Angular 2+, MySQL, PostgreSQL, AWS, Kubernetes
