WHAT UTOPIANS DO

We are building a better world for music with innovative big data technology that tracks online music sources and translates them into meaningful music consumption reports for royalty collection. The solution we’re building does not threaten to usurp the role of industry incumbents - it is about bringing transparency in the industry and supporting efficient royalty collection.

WHAT YOUR ROLE WILL BE

We are looking for Data Scientists / AI Specialists in the field of Music Recommendation. Musimap recently joined the Utopia family and we have already built a recommender system based on state-of-the-art approaches and models.

We would like to extend our recommender system with latest technologies from the domains of AI and Recommender Systems, make it scalable to millions of users and tracks and support use cases such as artist and track recommendation, playlist continuation and radio station recommendation. We count on your experience in these domains and would be happy for you to join our team.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

- Research state-of-the-art techniques in the fields of (content-based / hybrid) recommender systems, music recommendation, music analysis and machine / deep learning
- Prototype and productise music recommendation systems, using state-of-the-art algorithms and frameworks (in Python)
- Implement working, deployable and scalable systems for large-scale recommendation
- Thorough evaluation of the recommender system(s) by evaluation metrics
- Coordinate with our team of musicologists the evaluation and QA of the proposed system(s)
- Collaborate and thrive in a cross-functional team of data scientists, AI experts, data engineers, software engineers and musicologists

THE IDEAL SKILLSET

- MSc or PhD in Computer Science, Recommender Systems, AI, Mathematics or related fields
- 2+ years of experience in recommender systems
- Good knowledge of Python and relevant frameworks (such as pandas, numpy, scikit-learn, Tensorflow, Keras, PyTorch, recommender systems frameworks ...)
- Good programming skills and rigor in documentation and testing
- Goal driven and product-oriented mindset
- Ability to work independently, but also as a good team-worker
- Proficiency in English

Bonus skills:

- Having worked on music recommendation
- Having worked on content-based or hybrid recommender systems
- Experience with deep learning based recommenders, embedding models, etc.
- Industry experience
- Having worked on large-scale recommender systems and/or big data environments & technologies
- Experience in music analysis or machine/deep learning from audio
